How to Lock your E- Bike using a U-Lock

Welcome to our e-bike U-lock guide for optimal security. Locking your e-bike to the stem is a vital safeguard against theft. A complete run through is provided during your Go SGV E-bike Pick/Delivery time.

Here's how:
  • Choose a quality U-lock: Select the right size, made of durable materials. Go SGV can provide 2 U-locks upon request.
  • Secure location: Find a solid anchor like a bike rack.
  • Position bike: Align stem, front wheel, and anchor in a straight line.
  • Lock placement: Thread U-lock through the wheel, frame, and anchor.
  • Lock it: Engage the lock fully with the key or combination.
  • Double-check: Shake the bike to ensure it's secure.

Additional tips:
  • Use multiple locks for added security.
  • Opt for well-lit parking spots to deter thieves.
  • Register your e-bike's serial number for recovery.
These steps reduce theft risk and ensure a worry-free e-ride.

Cargo Bike Tips

Starting Your Ride

  1. Turn on the bike at the Bosch Intuvia control unit and check the battery status. Five bars on the display means the battery is fully charged.
Picture
2. Check the mode indicator: OFF, ECO, TOUR, SPORT and TURBO. The bike will turn on in the Off mode.
  • Modes are changed using the “+” “-” buttons on the controller above the left grip.
  • Mode setting will determine the range. ECO will be the longest range, TURBO the shortest range. Note: You can still ride the bike in the OFF mode or if the battery has run out of charge.
  • The “i” button on the controller will change the information on the display unit: Speed, Range, Odometer, Total Miles, Trip Distance, Clock, Average Speed.

3. If starting on an uphill use TURBO mode and the uphill setting on the gear indicator which is on the right hand grip. Twist away from you for the uphill setting.

4.Turn the lights on from the control unit if needed.

5. Modes and gears can be changed while you are pedaling. When changing gears it is suggested you release some pressure on the pedals.

6. To release the kickstand, step on it and push the handlebars forward keeping your hands near the brake levers. To set the kickstand, step on it and pull the handlebars back towards you. *Please be
careful not to take the bike off the kickstand when the Cafe Lock is engaged as the lock mounts will break.
Picture
7. There is a Walk Assist mode button on the top of the Mode/Information controller above the left grip. Push the Walk Assist button when in any mode (will not work in the OFF mode) and you will see “Walk Assist” on the display. Then press the “+” button and the motor will engage and gently assist you in moving the bike forward. Release the “+” button to exit Walk Assist mode.

8.
If you are not familiar with the handling of the bike please find a place to practice before putting passengers or cargo. Pay particular attention to the turning radius of the bike.

9. When loading passengers or cargo try to keep the weight centered.

Parking and Locking Your Bike

  1. The bike comes with 3 locks. A Cafe Lock on the rear wheel, a U Lock/cable lock combo and a heavy duty chain.
  2. The Cafe Lock can be engaged by turning the key up and sliding the lever down until it locks. To release the lock, replace the key and turn it down. It is not recommended to leave the bike if out of your sight with just the Cafe Lock engaged. The key remains in the Cafe Lock at all times except when in the lock position.
  3. The U Lock/cable lock combo is suggested for locking the front wheel.
  4. The heavy duty chain is recommended for locking the frame of the bike to something that will not move such as a bolted down bike rack, a lamp post, a parking meter, etc.
  5. Please remove the Bosch Intuvia display unit and take it with you whenever the bike is parked.
  6. You can use the key to remove the battery if necessary.
  7. If the cargo bike has a quick release on the seatpost it is also recommended that you use the cable lock to secure the seat.
Cargo Bike Repair Procedure
  1. Call SGV. If we are available we can arrange to pick up your bike and repair it. There will be a pickup/delivery and labor charge. Please note there will be no labor charge for the first flat repair only.
  2. Go to www.gosgv.com and navigate to the FAQ page for a list of participating bike shops.
  3. Contact the shop nearest you to make an appointment.
  4. Check with the shop to see if they have mobile repair capabilities.
  5. A front tire flat can be fixed by anyone with normal flat repair skills. If there is not a quick release on the wheel a 5mm Allen wrench is necessary. The replacement tube is 20x2.15 with a Schrader valve. This does not apply to a rear flat which is more involved and requires specific tools and knowledge.
